Questions

FAQ

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It's a unique 15-digit number that identifies every mobile device globally. Think of it as your phone's serial number โ€” no two devices share the same IMEI.
Yes, completely free. We offer basic IMEI decoding and validation at no cost. In the future we may add premium features like blacklist checks, but the core service will always be free.
The first 8 digits of every IMEI form what's called the TAC (Type Allocation Code). This code is assigned by the GSMA to specific device models, so we can map it to a brand and model without any external database lookup.
Not yet โ€” blacklist checks require access to carrier and law enforcement databases which are not publicly available. We're working on integrating paid APIs for this feature in the future.
Yes. We do not store, log, or share any IMEI numbers entered on this site. Your lookup happens client-side where possible, and we don't require any personal information.
Our TAC database is updated regularly but may not include very new or obscure models. If your IMEI is valid but the model shows as unknown, the IMEI itself is still correctly validated โ€” we just don't have that specific TAC in our database yet.
